Safeguarding Migrant Children from Trafficking and Exploitation in Mexico

Support and protect unaccompanied migrant children in Mexico by providing safe spaces, essential aid, and strengthened protection systems.

Our Project in Mexico

Mexico faces a humanitarian crisis as a transit and destination country for migrant children. To protect unaccompanied children from trafficking and exploitation, we provide essential services through safe spaces, deliver immediate crisis aid, strengthen local protection capacity, and use data to drive policy change and integration.

Key Objectives

  • Safe Spaces & Mobile Units: Providing education, critical psychosocial support, legal assistance, and essential services through static and mobile safe spaces in key transit cities (Tapachula, Mexico City, Ciudad Juarez).
  • Immediate Crisis Support: Delivering cash and voucher assistance (CVA) and in-kind support to families and unaccompanied minors at high risk of trafficking.
  • Strengthening Ecosystems: Training local authorities, service providers, and community leaders on child protection and running workshops for parents and caregivers.
  • Data for Advocacy:  Documenting cases to generate crucial data to support the adaptation and development of national child protection policies and frameworks.
  • Promoting integration into destination or transit communities, mitigating discrimination and promoting social cohesion
